The Next steps instructions that the Homebrew installer printed will only take effect for the (admin) user you ran the installer with the ~ in ~/.zprofile means "the home directory of the user currently logged in". That's because your PATH is not set correctly. įinally, after installing the regular emacs, even though I can run it from my admin account, when I try to use it from my normal user account, it fails to find it. Alternatively, switch to the admin user on the command line via su -l. zprofile is only sourced for a login shell, so you'd have to logout and login again with the admin account, for it to be automaticallly sourced. Oherwise the brew command produces a 'zsh: command not found: brew' response. After firing up the Mac Terminal, I have to switch to my admin account (from which I installed Homebrew) and execute 'source ~/.
